The second issue of “(O)gled” magazine is dedicated to the relationship between biopolitics and art, and it is conceived following the artistic practice of Zoran Todorović.
Zoran Todorović (Belgrade, 1965) represents one of the central figures of contemporary art in the region of Southeast Europe. He works mostly in the field of new media and multimedia, video, performance, actions and installations. He is the founder of the Department of New Media at the Faculty of Fine Arts, where he teaches the Transmedia Research course.
In his works, Todorović thematizes issues of biopolitical administration and control. He recognizes the body as a scene of a political struggle, and that is why his work radically treats the body and bodily resources, exploring the sensory fields of the relationship between the body and the machine, new biomedical procedures and conditions of exploitation. While negotiating with the new parameters of the situation in which we live and towards which we are moving, in his works he sets the conditions, while leaving the outcomes open, unpredictable and risky.
